Prepare to be amazed. Your iPad or iPhone or Android tablet or phone can help you do so much and TechAge classes will help you learn how to take advantage of its many features.


ABOUT TechAge CLASSES

All TechAge classes are small with a maximum of 10 students, one Instructor and up to three coaches to help students master the content. You'll use your own tablet or iPhone in all classes and help is available during our regular open lab hours, from noon - 2 pm. Click here tor the schedule of tablet/phone-specific help days.


HOW TO REGISTER


The JCC now takes all registrations and payments for TechAge classes. You can now register:


• BY PHONE: Call the JCC main desk at 461-2000.
• IN PERSON: Stop by the JCC main desk anytime the JCC is open.
• ONLINE: Go to JCC - TechAge online registrations.

TechAge volunteers are available to answer your questions about classes - either by phone (461-2000 x463) or by stopping by in person. The Information Desk is staffed from noon - 2 pm every weekday.


GET TO KNOW YOUR ANDROID PHONE OR TABLET - THE BASICS


Get more comfortable using your Android tablet or phone. In this 4-lesson class you will learn to understand and enjoy your Android tablet or phone. Topics will include tablet/phone basics, customizing your device’s screen, downloading apps, surfing the web, e-mail, photography, and video, and more..

GET TO KNOW YOUR ANDROID PHONE OR TABLET – BEYOND THE BASICS


Get more proficient using your Android tablet or phone. In this 4-lesson class you will learn more advanced skills including texting techniques, use of various maps apps, use of widgets, maintenance and file management, and more.

GET TO KNOW YOUR iPAD OR iPHONE - INTRO


Get comfortable using your iPad or iPhone. You will learn iPad and iPhone basics, including how to join a wireless network, use the onscreen keyboard, and much more. Access the “App Store” and learn how to find, install, and manage “apps” on your device..

GET TO KNOW YOUR iPAD OR iPHONE - DAILY LIFE BASICS


Integrate your iPad or iPhone into your daily life. “Get Organized” by learning how to manage your contacts and calendar. “Stay in Touch” with family and friends by using both basic and some advanced email techniques and by making video calls.

GET TO KNOW YOUR iPAD OR iPHONE – USING SAFARI


This course introduces you to many of the features included in Safari, Apple’s standard web browser. Learn how to search for and navigate to websites, manage multiple tabs, bookmarks, and more.

ENHANCE PHOTOS ON YOUR SMART PHONE OR TABLET


Learn to use a powerful, free photo editor, SNAPSEED, to enhance photos on your smart phone or tablet. For both Apple and non-Apple mobile devices. Students will download the SNAPSEED app to their mobile device(s) prior to class. You will be working with photos selected by the instructor and your own photos.
Prerequisite: Smart phone or tablet. Basic knowledge of your mobile device.

FIND MISSING MONEY


Find missing money for yourself, family and friends! Learn why money goes missing and where those funds go. Learn how to get it back and prevent it from happening again. This hands-on class includes tips to help you perform in-depth searches of both New York State and national websites. Students may use their own laptop computer or tablet or a TechAge classroom computer.
1-Lesson. Member Fee: $10; Non-Member Fee: $15.
Prerequisite: Basic internet skills (i.e. experience “surfing” the web) on either a computer or mobile device.
