TechAge Program Offerings
Process to register for TechAge classes:
All TechAge classes are listed on our website, roctechage.org. Click the Register link associated with the desired class.
You are transferred to the Registration system for the class selected.
Review the information displayed for the class. Select GET TICKETS.
On the Login or find your Account screen, you may either login to your JCC account or select QUICK CHECKOUT. Quick Checkout will be easier for most people.
With Quick Checkout you are asked to provide Name, Email address and Phone number. Date of Birth is NOT required and today’s date is fine. Select CONTINUE.
TechAge classes are restricted for a single ticket per individual. If you want to register more than one person, you will need to repeat this process with the name, email, phone number for the other person.
Select the appropriate Ticket Type ( e.g. JCC Member or Non Member) and order 1 Ticket and click NEXT. Review the information in My Cart and CHECKOUT.
Provide your payment information, prove you are not a robot, and PAY NOW.
You may register for multiple classes prior to payment processing.

The Best TV is NOT on cable! Are your friends talking about TV shows you can’t find? Do you feel left out? How do I decide which streaming services to use? Do I keep a cable plan? Learn about some popular streaming options that are free! This class will present the various types of streaming services and outline the steps to actually “Cut the Cable Cord” or just augment a basic cable plan!

If you currently have a Windows 10 computer, this discussion is for you! Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. This means no more security updates, bug fixes, or technical support will be provided after that date. In this session, we’ll talk about what this change means for users, explore upgrade options (like moving to Windows 11), discuss risks of staying on Windows 10, and provide practical alternatives.
Our TechAge expert of all things “Windows” will present his views on steps you can take. There will also be time for some Q&A.

Advanced Organizing & Editing Photos ***UPDATED TO iOS 26***

Using the standard Photos App, advanced photo organizing tools are covered in this 2-lesson class. This includes learning advanced management techniques for the People (& Pets) Collection, managing Duplicate Images, managing images which are “Shared with You” via text messages, creating and managing Custom Folders, creating and modifying Memories and more. Additionally, you will learn about the basic tools to edit photos and videos using the standard Photos app.
Course includes changes in Apple’s latest operating system (iOS 26). Students must update devices to iOS 26 prior to class.

What’s new In Apple’s new operating system, iOS 26? This 1 lesson class presents the more popular new features and biggest changes that could affect you! Differences between the iPhone and iPad will also be highlighted. Course taught using a device updated to the new operating system (iOS 26). Students have the option to update device(s) prior to class (advised) or just learn about the changes in demo mode.

Get comfortable using your iPhone or iPad. In this 2-lesson course, you will learn iPhone and iPad basics: understand the physical device, practice several finger gestures, join a wireless network, customize your Home Screen, practice using your Phone app, and much more. After this class you will also be able to update your device’s operating system, monitor how much storage is being used, and backup your device.

Learn how to install and manage apps on your device. This will include using the standard App Store app, rearranging your app icons on Home Screens and Dock, grouping app icons, deleting/offloading apps, and more. Learn how to manage contact data. Would you like to better organize and share the photos/videos on your iPhone or iPad? Are you finding all the changes in the recently redesigned Photos app overwhelming or confusing? This class is for you!
Last Fall the new Photos app dramatically changed how you browse your pictures, videos and memories on your iPhone or iPad. Apple has continued to improve this app in iOS 26. In this 2-lesson class, learn how to see your entire Photos Library plus the various “collections” such as Recent Days, Albums, People & Pets, Pinned Collections, and more. You will learn about all the collections and how to customize the Photos app to access the collections in a manner most useful for you.
In addition, you will learn multiple ways to browse and view your photos/videos, how to make custom albums, and how to search for photos and videos, and more. Course includes new features in Apple’s latest operating system (iOS 26). Students must update devices to iOS 26 prior to class.

Learn how maintain a calendar electronically. Add and edit “events”, get alerted about upcoming birthdays, and more. Course taught using an iPhone updated to Apple’s newest operating system (iOS 26), but applicable to older operating systems. Some “look and feel” differences on the iPad will also be addressed. Using the standard Messages App, learn how to text with special effects, insert photos, use emojis and more. You will also learn how to customize your Message conversations display, edit a sent text, undo the send of a text, schedule when a text is sent, dictate texts, save photos received in text messages, and much more. Using the standard Messages app, learn more advanced tools including how to copy and forward texts, send/receive audio texts, create and then use your own Memoji in texts, create stickers from your photos and use them in texts, manage Group messages, and more.

Learn how to use the standard Podcasts app to find and play free audio programs about science, news, politics, business & finance, entertainment and more. You can also “catch up” on certain shows previously broadcast on TV by listening to “audio only” podcasts of these shows. Course includes new features in Apple’s latest operating system (iOS 26). Borrow Electronic Materials from the Library Using the Libby app
1 lesson. Hands on/Demo IN PERSON class. Max registrants: 10
This class will show you how to use the Libby app to find, place holds and borrow digital ebooks and audiobooks. See how to read or listen to your borrowed materials within the Libby app on your iPad or iPhone or Android device. Downloading your ebook to a Kindle device will also be discussed. Course taught using a device updated to Apple’s newest operating system but applicable to devices on different operating systems. Concepts applicable to other devices.
Prerequisite: Libby app installed on your mobile device and initialized with your current library card.
